Arrived for dim sum, 8.30 Friday night, opening week. Curious to see how it was operating... Initial thoughts were that it was a large space set up to accommodate large numbers of late-night Clapham-ites, rather than the dim-sum hunters that we were. The menu was unwieldy and confusing (and we know our Uk Dimsum), so ended up ordering standard stuff - Har Gau, Siu Mai, along with some of the easily identifiable prawn, beef and pork dumplings. The results were actually really good - very fresh tasting dumplings, hand made, which is surprising for Har Gau, and throughly enjoyable. At that time though, the venue has a real identity crisis which was a problem for us diners. Fortunately for the venue, there was a crowd of Friday-evening drinkers that started filling the bar. Before that i was seriously questioning the soundness of their business model, given the size and layout of the place. Overall, the food was very good and to be recommended; though we're not sure that the blend of restaurant and nightclub is going be a sustainable venture in the long term...
Just had some amazing food and wine in lovely surroundings. The prawn and lobster dim sum was truly divine, along with the baked beef and cabbage bun!! Our attentive and very helpful waitress help to make the evening even more enjoyable! (Especially as we had enjoyed 4 bottles of the Chilean merlot, and required guidance)
This is a lovely beautiful gem of a place within the wonders of Clapham!!
Can't wait to try it on a Friday or Saturday night
Big 👍👍👍👍👍
Some people seem to be moaning that this place is like eating in a club... But surely in a place that doubles as a night venue that is to be expected? Eat before 10pm or book a seat around the front and you'll be fine. The food is very tasty and I love the chilled atmosphere earlier on. Very friendly staff (without the 'too cool, no smiles' attitude of some places like this). Recommended! Great cocktails and the pale ale is infused with kaffir lime which is cool. Also recommend Ngo Lam Gua Wau Tip and Jai Lai Wong Bao (dessert).
