Shanel's is a local institution and rightly so. There are a number of fast food outlets in the area and overpriced eateries. Shanel's offers an independent family business, honest simple food, reasonable prices, and really great service. The cafe is quite small in size, but the welcome is huge. Everything here is very good. My favourites are baked potatoes with tuna mayo and red onion or toasted cheese sandwiches.

Shanel's is a true gem of a sandwich shop. We were visiting for a week and originally planned to try different breakfast places. One visit with Shanel was enough to change those plans. The food was fantastic, the pricing was fair and Shanel was a true gem. Her friendliness and recall for her guest's orders was refreshing. We will certainly visit again when we come back to London.
