I've been craving a chocolate croissant all day, so whilst wandering through Farringdon this lunchtime I decided to pop into Paul for some french food with my friend Matt. The croissants, unfortunately, looked a little burnt and on the small side, and to be honest not as good as a Pret chocolate croissant which are absolutely magical.
Anyway having failed at my croissant mission I decided maybe I should have a proper lunch instead and went for the tomato and mozzarella sandwich. The portion was generous though you'd hope so given the price of it. Could've done with more evenly distributed pesto but top marks for the massive wedges of mozarella.
Dessert was a strawberry tart... Heaven. Plus strawberry = health right? Matt ate his chocolate cake in record time so I'd say this was a thumbs up from both. The only problem was the price, this was a pretty expensive lunch whim.
The real French is nothing like the ones pretending to be as such. Paul has a heavenly selection of bakeries, and I could just start a second breakfast after the first here. Pastry and sandwiches are so elegant and tasty, and I just like staring over the counter and linger on, instead of a takeaway.
Also a flattering choice for coffee and croissant lovers, and try anything with chocolate and respect the artisans :)
I love Paul's desserts and sandwiches. This is a great place to go to lunch and is bigger than many of the Paul's that I've been to. Also, the location is convenient and close to Farringdon Station. If you're a fan of French pastry and desserts it's a must visit for you!
