If Lounge Bohemia hadn't been so cold and we hadn't clearly been forgotten about several times throughout the night I might have given this the full five stars. Not only are the drinks good (and reasonably priced) but it would get extra points for being such an individual bar. I expected the usual underground speakeasy. Instead, you wander down into some kind of retro time warp. Funky and bright and full of Ikea-like furniture and paper lamps; tables and chairs were in the main area and little inset caverns along one edge. Water was provided in kitsch plastic jugs that you might take camping. They play light jazz in the background to complete the ‘lounge’ atmosphere. It made quite a change from everything else you can find in the area. It was also pretty busy – every table was occupied, which is no mean feat for a cold #DryJanuary.

They do a few well-known cocktails with their own twists, plus their own house cocktails which are only £8.50. We stuck to this menu as there was plenty on there to keep us amused. But if you really want to push the boat out and get some drinks to impress then their menu of £14.50 cocktails is where it’s at. These ones come with bubbles and smoke, things like chocolate caviar and electricity and various different items of scenery and wizardry, reminding me of the show you get from your drinks at the Whistling Shop or Purl.

But our drinks without all the bells and whistles were great. Flavoured vodka was a main ingredient to most of these. I chose a Sgt Pepper which was black pepper vodka with elderflower and lime, served in a pepper-encrusted glass if you wanted an extra kick. I did. This was so good that Stephen ordered it for his second drink. It turns out this is one of Lounge Bohemia’s most popular and I can see why.

To start, my boyfriend had an Old Gentleman which was basically an old fashioned but with oak syrup and was as good as that sounds. My last drink was an apple pie with vanilla and biscuit vodka, cinnamon and apple, and it didn’t reach the giddy heights of the Sgt Pepper though it was plenty tasty.

I would definitely go back – it’s the ideal place to take visitors in order to show them London’s quirky, colourful side.

What a cool place!
I went to this speakeasy bar for my birthday and it was a real surprise. It is quite well hidden next door to an ethnic restaurant. A small door brings you downstairs where you find a 60s-East-European style (Bohemian, as the name says) place.
The menu is inside Czech books and the cocktails are marvellously presented by a beautiful chinese-dressed girl (yes: Chinese + Bohemian doesn't really seem to make sense but believe me, it does. Or at least it makes you feel like you're in some Tarantino movie or something.)
Go for a molecular drink. Not only they're good but the best thing is the way they are presented. I went for an Oaxaca Julep and it was a DIY cocktail: I had a glass pipe with some ice, a flask of alcohol and a Rizla tin with some cotton-candied sugar. I had to mix everything together in order to make my smoking (literally) cocktail.
And it had a very peculiar, smokey taste.
If you're looking for something 'different' in a good way, I truly recommend this bar. Reserve a table or you won't find a place!

I am so thankful to my niece for having booked this place for a family hang out. I loved the way the cocktails were served to us. The concept behind each of the drinks that we ordered was unique and the fact that the servers enacted the story behind each of them was just so much fun. It was an evening well spent. I had a comfortable time and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am going to visit again.
