Huge selection of tea, it’s very helpful when staff took their time to answer some of our questions. The place was empty when we came in the morning but I believe it will surely get busy later on in the day. Perhaps that’s why they turned on the radio. It was playing such silly songs from the 90s and early 2000s with the occasional radio DJ rambling. In my opinion, the radio music cheapens the atmosphere of the place. It would be better to have some tasteful sounds befitting a tea time atmosphere if you get what I mean.
Heaven on earth for me was at the London Tea Exchange today at High Tea. Mahbub's advice and recommendations were great. He knew better than we did what would taste and he hit the spot. The service from Jasmin was extremely friendly and gracious and I felt like I was part of the family.
Oh, and the tea and food were extraordinary delicious!
My very first afternoon tea/high tea experience in London (wait no, actually in my life!) was a success. I was served by lovely lady Kulsama and another man whose name I cannot remember now. I chose the green tea jasmine tea, which smelled and tasted super good. This was an afternoon tea for one, and I could not finish everything because it was just too much and too filling for me. Sandwiches were good and everything was halal (extra point for this!). Scone with strawberry jam was nice too, but the butter/cream was really hard (not sure if that is normal, I am no British). The vegan cake was too sweet for me but not bad. The baklava was nice, not too sweet. They also gave me a gift of 3 tea bag samples, lovely. Overall a nice experience. The only minus point is that I had to walk a bit far from the closest bus/underground stop to reach this place. Not sure if I would like to go again, but I would definitely say go for it if you want to experience a halal afternoon tea in London!
