I visited Ritorno recently with a friend for an evening meal. The atmosphere was intimate and the modernised interior was extremely fashionable. The terrace surrounding the restaurant, alongside the vast display of Italian sourced wines behind the bar gave it an authentic feel.
The service provided was enormously welcoming and friendly.
Ritorno’s specialises in small, tapas-style dishes, presented very elegantly. For starters, we had the Pizza Fritta, a charcoal pizza accompanied by a camembert cheese fondant which was an ideal portion size for an entrée and tasted fantastic!
The mains consisted of Fassona beef tartare, tuna tartare with avocado and avocado cream, grilled octopus with Sicilian ratatouille, slow-cooked beef with ragu tagliatelle, seared salmon and sautéed spinach, turnip langoustine ragu with homemade cavatelli, pistachio of Bronte and a side of cauliflower gratin. All these dishes were prepared fresh and had a real taste of true Italian cuisine. There wasn’t too much of each dish and I could not fault any.
Then came the homemade apple tart with vanilla ice cream for dessert, which proved to be the perfect sweet to end the meal on. The fact that it was homemade (and delicious) really added to the overall authenticity of the restaurant.
We had a wonderful evening at Ritorno’s and would certainly recommend it to friends! It was warm and welcoming and the food did not disappoint. My only regret is that I didn’t try more of the famous cocktails they pride themselves on and that looked amazing. I cannot wait to return soon!
Amazing service with comfortable environment. We order two starters (raw beef and octopus) and crab spaghetti. The octopus is very soft. Highly recommended! The beef will be get if they can add more sauce. For the main, i think is a bit salty. We also ordered Tiramisu for dessert but nothing special.
Great food at reasonable prices. Service was not great though. They were very kind but not very expert / professional. They committed several mistakes and the place was not full at all. But I'll come back. Try the Italian Bento at lunch!
