Nautilus is one of the best chippies I have visited in London. Easy to find on Fortune Green Road in West Hampstead, its cosy interior is instantly familiar, comfortable and nostalgically old-fashioned – the hallmarks of a small, family run business. Greek owner, Lannis still runs the kitchen but don’t be surprised if he pops out to say hello and take your order.
Definitely the best local fish and chips option. Nearly always very good. Occasionally has a bit of a wobble but never dips below decent.
The cod is good quality and battered and fried well, and the chips are good proper chippy chips.
The only gripe is that the fish is done in matzo meal batter rather than 'proper' batter so it's a bit different to usual.
The staff are really friendly.
Nice battered sausages too.
Probably the best Chippie in London and the UK. I am a connoisseur and have gone the length and breadth to taste the ideal fish n chips and by far Nautilus is the Real McCoy. I have recommended them to many. How I came across them was whilst waiting in the queue at Lisson Grove a Cabbie and another customer said you need to go to Nautilus and did that day and have NEVER looked back...The rest is history
