First: this is not a Boozy Bunch Brunch…sadly. I met up with a friend, and she is not the boozy brunch type. No worries … I can deal with that. We chose Powder Keg Diplomacy based on location and decor. My friend had some blisters from all the sightseeing, and she planned to meet more friends around the corner later on, so Powder Keg Diplomacy was just in the right place at the right time. Also as my friend was over from America, I thought the Victorian inspired decoration was a nice touch. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which is advertised as “a picturesque, bright conservatory”. Personally, I would not call a conservatory, as it had no glass walls, but I was happy to sit in the “conservatory” as it was the brightest place in the this bar. My friend was somehow distracted by the frame design behind me, but my riveting telling of some amazing stories had her focusing on me again soon enough.
Great atmosphere, good brunch and dinner, nice cocktails, little pricey....I have been here for cocktails, brunch and dinner on separate occasioned. I enjoyed them all and would come more regularly if it wasnt for the price. The cocktails are great and got interesting twist. The brunch was amazing, although not hearty the omelette was superbe as was the bloody mary (many twists available!)Dinner was also very good but is not cheap. But the fish was particularly good.Overall i love the vibe just wish it was a little more affordable.
Step through time. Outstanding from start to finish. Staff were friendly and helpful (especially since I'm gluten free which means lots of running back and forth to the kitchen to ask questions); the detail in the decor is endlessly fascinating; and every mouthful of food and beverage a delight.
