Me and the other half came here a few months ago and I actually forgot until now to write this review. We decided to give it a go after not finding a swanking indian restaurant in SE18 up til now.
There's a picture of Joanna Lumley at the front and a really lovely modern decor.  With a basement this place is cavernous. You get the full table service here. A sharp thinking ship is run for sure.
My partner not being a dairy, meat & alcohol drinker scanned the menu and found some likely dishes. They were all in the side dishes selection and so as a consolation we had some suitable starters and ordered a bottle of their finest sparkling water. We then moved onto what we fancied as our main dishes which of course would have to be sides. The waiter took the order and read it back to us. Somehow a dairy rich main was added to our order We asked for that dish to be taken off because we did not want it. At this point stating we'd love a meal with no dairy or meat please. He went off and came back and questioned us again. We felt like we had done something dreadfully wrong but then realised he wanted to upsell on the dishes.

A lovely restaurant with a great selection of meat dishes and no vegan mains. Please please consider all customers. It is part of many cultures not to eat meat/dairy/alcohol so if you want to upsell consider a specific one and ask the customer if that suggestion is ok before adding to the menu selection of the customer.

Overall we enjoyed the experience and would love to find a local sit in restaurant where we can find the dairy free/meat free main dish selection. Hence the 3.5

Proably one of my favourite local Indian/Nepalese restaurants in this area (although I do have a couple still left to try), this was our chosen location to go out with a couple of good friends who had recently developed a love of this food during a trip to India.

It was just before a firework display so you can dine after them, when the masses all decide to do so - or -  you can be smug like we were and bag yourself a nice early dinner reservation so you beat the crowds.

This restaurant is a firm favourite of Joanna Lumley's with a hand written plaque from her proudly hung up on the downstairs floor. It was my 3rd visit - I've had days of eating only veg and eating only meat dishes there and I'm always happy to return.

This time, perhaps the only thing that let down the experience was that we seemed to have been allocated the brand new waiter, who really struggled with understanding what we were saying and with following our wishes. He tried and when he struggled, he sought senior help but it did delay our meal a bit but other than that, the service was friendly as usual.

We all opted for a starter and a main each and then shared some naans and plain rice. I got drawn to the paneer and beetroot parcel - a bit like a neatly presented samosa that was more virtuous than its standard potato heavy sister - I say virtuous but there's nothing very vrituous about paneer! It was delicious and perfectly piping hot for a cold day, though I can't say that I could actually taste the beetroot. Hubby went for the chilli chicken, which he liked and found very tender and we also had a portion of their special chicken balls.

For mains, we had 2 standard chicken tikka masala, 1 lamb rogan josh and 1 creamy prawn curry (my choice). I tried the lamb as well and found it very flavoursome. The prawn curry was delicious, perhaps just a tad sweet but comforting and creamy to the core.

Naans are usually my test of a good Indian restaurant and I was pleased to say that the garlic naan passed with flying colours - garlicky , hot and really quite naughty - I could see the sheen of the butter on the surface but then what's a naan without butter?

There's a reason this is one of my local favourites for food you know is reliable, delicious and a menu that has just about any Indian or Nepalese dish you can think of.
