Great place to have a beer and eat something. It's located in a discrete corner with a good decor. It has a lot of local beers of different kinds. The staff is nice and the food good. The price is good, because it's near tower brigde. I recommend it a lot!
Went here on Friday night for my wine fix. Lovely place, buzzing with activity. Tough to get a table unless you go by 7. I went there and my friend had already got one so we were all set for a long night.
Had wine - Merlot, first red on the menu - and chips.
Also tried both the veggie mains, very good. Their pale ale is great too.
Overall, a Happy Friday and a good start to Saturday. :D
This is my favourite pub in London thus far. I had the absolute pleasure of living in Shad Thames for a year - and this wonderful little place was my local. The ales are absolutely great. The food is absolutely great. The staff are absolutely great. It's absolutely great.
They've recently refurbished the first floor to give a better space to dedicated diners. I myself prefer to be downstairs in the thick of it though. We tended to move through the choice of ales, a half at a time, and then grab AT LEAST something from the bar menu - but often a roast dinner. For the sunday visitor be there early or be disappointed on choices. The roasts disappear fast.
I can recommend, with unending enthusiasm, the belly pork roast*.
*I used to be a butcher and so say "belly pork". I reduce to say "pork belly" on principle.
