Right from the get go, I should let you know that the owner of Annie’s, the inimitable Lorraine Angliss, is a friend of mine. She’s a gifted restaurateur which is not surprising, really, since her parents were also in the same business, so it runs in her blood. As far as I’m aware, she owns the two Annie’s as well as Rock and Rose in Richmond but she may well also have her fingers in other pies. Her skill lies in creating an extraordinarily inviting atmosphere in her brasseries and coupling this with an excellent modern British meets Mediterranean culinary concept.
We popped into Annie's for Brunch whilst visiting friends in the area and were not disappointed. It's a quirky little corner property near the Thames in Chiswick with interesting décor, an impressively extensive menu and great service.
We were quite picky with our order (swapping sides across dishes for people who don't like mushrooms/tomatoes etc) and one of the party was pregnant so was being demanding for two... ALL requests were met and delivered without question or problem, which is a testament to the staff.
Food was incredibly tasty. I added sausage to my bacon ciabatta (or vice-versa!) and all ingredients were really high quality. Others ordered the impressively vast full English b'fast and were equally enthusiastic, especially about the sausages! My Bloody Mary was also perfect.
Well worth a visit, but book before you arrive, especially for b'fast.
Loved it! The food was really hearty and warm. Loved every part of it. We ordered the mango chicken salad and hummus with grilled pita for starters which took around 10 mins to be served. The mango chicken salad is a must try! I’ll certainly go back for this. For mains, we had the shepherd’s pie and the grilled sea bass with lime rice and both were super good, it took around 25-30 mins for the main course to be served and it was totally worth the wait. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding, it was delicious but not necessarily something I’ll personally re-order. The service and staff made the experience really special as they’ve been very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is Victorian English which we loved! We had a reservation made a few days in advance. They have an outdoor seating which is lovely if the weather is good but also two floors indoor.
