I respect a restaurant that keeps a simple menu that they execute on exceptionally. This place is remarkable. I would eat here everyday. I have payed much more for far inferior French cuisine in other establishment.

A stellar representation of French cuisine, with the propriety of a confident yet comfortable atmosphere. I was impressed from start to finish, simply. My scallops were cooked perfectly, and the kick of capers with a blend of hazelnut was fantastic. The Confit Duck was tender, exceptionally flavored, and well-plated with its sides. Dessert was exceptional: Poire Belle Hélène, with no flavor overstated. Service was attentive and well-executed. Definitely recommend!

It was very nice. Pleasant atmosphere. Lamb was excellent as was the creme brulee. The bartender certainly knew how to make a very good gin and tonic. Finally, the service was outstanding. In fact, they include the tip of 12 percent in the bill and I would certainly have given at least 20 percent.

We have been served very attentively, the food was delicious and they have a big choice of different fish or meat. The french onion soup was tasty as well as the fish filet, lamb chops or steak filet. Champagne by the glass is Drappier which speaks for itself. The house red wine is the Vieux Château Négrit Montagne-Saint Émilion 2015 Bordeaux which is surprisingly soft, fruity and not so tannic for its young age. Angelus offers a great value for the price with typically french cuisine dishes served by friendly waiters on nicely laid tables. A great place to spend a cultivated evening with friends, family or as a couple!

Mmm... gratin dauphinoise and I'll have another carafe of that house Pinot Noir. The last thing I wanted after a tiring day was a squabble with a snobby French restaurant over my eclectic sartorial choices and... I didn't get anything of the sort. The staff tried hard to, and did, please. They, and the chef, deserve more custom. I foresee a return visit, which would mean forsaking a meal that could otherwise have been in pie form, making that high praise indeed.

The food is divine, although pricey, but worth it. Set lunch price is very reasonable at £22 for 2-course & £33 for 3-course.

The place is nice, with the option of hosting large groups of people. The chef definitely deserves admiration for the extensive menu and lovely food. I was here a couple of days and it was the same lovely experience that I've remembered from before.

Amazing food and very good service. The price is a bit high, but worth every penny. We will never forget the chocolate raspberry desert!

Dubbed the new ‘hipster sport’, Pétanque is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. I used to play it on holiday as a child and surprisingly (unlike most sports!) I was fairly good at it. I even beat Tim once, but of course, he’ll never admit to that ;). For those of you who don’t know, Pétanque is a form of boules where the goal is to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (literally “piglet”) or jack, while standing inside a starting circle with both feet on the ground.

He is so passionate about French boules that he put his mind to organising the UK’s largest public entry International Petanque tournament  and  call it the ‘The Londonaise’ .....   It was an instant hit. This year, the festival will run over 3 days and host 128 teams.  It’s open to absolutely anyone from novices to experts with lots of prizes on offer.   Everyone is invited to play on the 6th and if the day is anything like the evening he and I spent in the Angelus, Thierry Thomasin's restaurant. An a rt nouveau-style brasserie with fixed-price options and a lengthy, Franco-centric wine list, the event is going to be the friendliest, warmest&nbs

The menu is simple but a contemporary twist is injected into dessert staples such as the addition of croissant ice-cream with a pear upside down cake and cola sorbet with a set English blackberry curd.

On the whole, the food was excellent, especially the starter pichounettes. Furthermore, I was completely wowed by the fact that such quality platters of food, containing an abundance of variety, only cost £13 each. The mains aren’t necessarily the cheapest (ranging in price from £26 to £32 for meat and fish options), but the pichounettes won me over hands down. Wow!

A main course of roasted stone bass was far from the wreck that has given this fish its alternative name. Indeed, the utterly fresh fillet had been perfectly timed to produce crisp skin and flakes of succulent flesh. Confit chicken wings provided a denser texture and sweeter taste, whilst potato mash was lifted by the addition of smoked garlic and lemon. Red wine jus brought the other elements of this successful dish together.

The dining room has an attractive ground floor space with plenty of dark wood panelling and a cosy bar. The wine list, as one might hope when the owner is a sommelier, has some good growers, and the pricing is not fierce. The excellent Brumaire dessert wi

Disappointing. I really wished to be 'wowed' by Angelus and what I found in return was an average plate of adequately cooked French food, adequately served, but nothing to rave about, no soul, no warmth. I'm really sorry to say, but Angelus could be so much better as potential is there to make it into a truly memorable little gem.
