It's a bit hard to find, being on an internal square in the Tower Bridge 1 development. Nice atmosphere with dim lights, music very low so mostly you hear clinking of glasses and cutlery and conversation. Service is swift.
True to their name they do BBQ food. I loved my order of the Surfboard. Mostly BBQ shellfish including 3 langoustine, maybe 5 large prawns, 3 scallops and 8 clams and mussels. Also some deep fried calamari. Served with care, in that a halved lemon came wrapped in cheesecloth so there was no danger of getting seeds in your seafood. Also served with melted butter and good alioli as well as some sea vegetables.
I got my surfboard with beef dripping fries which were great especially dipped into the alioli. My other side of iceberg lettuce wedge remained untouched, because we over ordered, but the staff didn't have a problem with wrapping it up to take home.
My companion had a bunch of starters for diner. Beef cheek fritters from the snacks section of the menu were the star of his order, though he also liked the artichokes. The oxtail soup was a bit rich.
We drank the cheapest red, a Nero D'avola which which was smooth and reminded us of vacations in Sicily. We attended the soft launch but at full price our excellent mealt would have been £78.
Ate here recently and was pretty impressed. It was a weekday evening and pretty quiet overall; however, I did enjoy the food.
The steak was cooked to absolute perfection. The veg was extremely flavourful, and roasties deep dried and interesting.
The service was spot on. The waiter was very attentive, though not annoying, and I did feel he had a bit of upsell in him, but great either way.
I’d definitely eat here again.
Positive: Sunday roast for two was lovely, good size portion, and the steak was medium rare as we asked. Onion rings were also nice.
Negative: Our roast was served with a tiny portion of gravy. When we asked for more, the waiter failed to let us know that they charge extra £3. Some of the red wines were out of stock, and we only found out once we wanted to order one.
Tip: Probably best to book in advance.
