Don’t expect a 5* hotel restaurant.
It is a PUB.
I would say ‘THE’ PUB. Fish and chips cooked to perfection, steaks exactly as per the order, quick service.
Reasonable prices, fun and diverse people, a plethora of beers and some non alcoholic choices too.
Good for families
Good for couples
Good for colleagues/friends
Good for singles
Good for who’s not sure about the above.
I liked it. It’s modern old fashion, it’s democratic it’s dynamic. It’s England:)
I finally made my way down here after some suggestions (Thank you Tony Marsden). The peculiarity of this weatherspoon's pub is its location, in an ex branch of the Bank of England!! The place is breathtaking with its imposing architecture and wide spaces and the lovely overlooking balcony is a treat of tiny alcoves and dark passages. Food wise they serve the usual range typical of the whole chain and the quality is just a bit higher than the other branches. I was lucky to go on a quite moment that have allowed me to enjoy it at full, but that didn't prevent the kitchen from messing my order and the staff to be a bit patronising when inquired about my missing dish. I even had to go and find someone to get some cutlery..... nontheless it's worth a visit.
A beautiful pub, just stunning architecture!
I came here on a Friday night with work colleagues for a drink and it was absolutely packed to the rafters!
It is a great place but the amount of time spent waiting for a drink takes so long that you spend less than that actually drinking.
It looks like it would be a great place when it's a bit quieter, as when we went there were lots of people outside and on the opposite street drinking too as there was barely any space, despite the large size of the building.
