Delightful experience.. great food, good choice of wine matching the food, electric interiors and above all, warm people..
Would recommend the sautéed mushroom ginger ham for starters, the duck pasta and salmon for mains..
What could make it a 5 - seating space may improve. Importantly the deserts.. i have had better Tiramisu and Creme Brûlée.
Solid Fare. We tried Da Paolo based on other solid reviews here on Urbanspoon and found they were well justified. My veal in brandy cream sauce was beautifully done, though you would be hard pressed to find an actual restaurant in Italy that would serve a dish like this over broccoli spears. Regardless, it was all cooked well and presented nicely. The wife had saltimbocca that was also nicely done. If there was any complaint it was the lack of any pizza on the menu, something that should be standard in a good Italian restaurant. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. Total for four, with house wine and dessert, was about GBP 130. This may be a bit much for the tourist trying to stretch their budget, but is a good meal when you are reminiscent of Rome.
Have to agree with some of the previous comments Da Paolo is by far the best Italian restaurant in the vicinity. It easily outshines the average offerings by those others in the area. The food is prepared and served with passion which what I would expect from Italian fare. The service too is good and knowledgeable which again is a rare find for around these parts. Finally the prices are very reasonable for fresh and freshly cooked food. Fully recommended!!! Well done Da Paolo!!!
