We had a deal from Groupon, £20 for a 3-course meal for two. Isn’t that great?! We ordered Crostone alla Pizzaiola and Bruschetta for starters, pan fried seabass and strozzapreti amatriciana for mains and tiramisu for dessert. So how was the food?. The starters were delicious, both were wonderfully flavoured and the tomatoes were fresh. It was a good sized dish, a perfect palette cleanser. The mains were equally good but not amazing. The pasta dish was cooked al dante and covered in cheese, which was yum. The fish needed a little more salt to help reach utter deliciousness, but it was nice and flakey and not fishy. Last but not least, the tiramisu, our waitress hyped this dessert up so much we HAD to try it. It was my first time trying a tiramisu so I wasn’t sure what to expect but the sponge was nice and soft and the flavour of the espresso was prominent but not heavy. It had a slight bitter taste but it wasn’t unpleasant, the creaminess of the entire dish helped to soften and sweeten the dessert.
Simple italian food with a milanese flair. Anything tomato based seems to be done really well. We enjoyed the freshness of the ingredients and the simple flavours that really shone through in the bruschetta. Buffalo mozarella bread was amazing! Soft cheese with creamy tomato, and very light flavour.
My main was not as satisfactory. I opted for pasta carbonara and felt that it was too egg-y and there were chunks of egf everywhere and not much of the thick and rich creaminess from the yolk. Dessert ended the night well with a soft and delicate tiramisu which is well worth a try.
Prices are reasonable and the customer service is good.
This is a cute authentic Italian restaurant a 2 minute walk from St Paul's station - it has a nice atmosphere and good hearty food. The restaurant quite frequently offers discounts through its website and through groupon/wowcher etc which makes it an absolute bargain price. I have been twice now and it has always been busy and great service on both occasions.
