I think this place does the best lunches and breakfasts within walking distance of Barts. The sandwiches are fantastic, great ingredients with nice little Italian touches. They do a good breakfast too, usual cafe fare. There are also a selection of pasta dishes too, but I've not tried them. They look good though.
It might not look very swanky from the outside but the food is good and reasonably priced too.
In 1381 Wat Tyler led the peasants revolt to Smithfield to confront Richard II for workers rights and abolition of taxes. 644 years later Beppes Cafe sits happily on this historic corner. A small cafe full of music and crammed with tradies (builders), barristers and passing public mixing together. I had a set menu which was large, hot and tasty. Condiments a bit fiddly, who doesn't love a squirty ketchup bottle but apart from that a quick and friendly service makes this place a must for any tradie parking at Smithfield. I wonder if Tyler took Richard II for the set menu whether the King would have been as full as I was after the lovely meal he would have decided to pardon poor Tyler rather than hack him to death, leaving us with less taxes and more money to spend at Beppe's.
Very good English breakfast, nearby to our hotel ☕️. Recommend it!
