I wish I could give this place 10 stars! The entire staff was so kind & patient, the food was delicious, and the room was gorgeous! We could have stayed there all afternoon. We appreciated the wide variety of teas and the pairing recommendations made by our waiter for what tea would taste best with each tower (first tower sandwiches and the second tower dessert). The sandwiches were so yummy- our top favorites were the salmon and the beef. They also offer a vegetarian tower too! We truly enjoyed the experience, and I wish we lived closer to come back and enjoy their holiday menu they are rolling out soon!
Embarking on the afternoon tea journey at Cafe Royal is akin to stepping back in time, enveloped in an ambiance of sophistication and elegance. The establishment’s attention to detail shines through, creating a memorable setting that pairs perfectly with this time-honoured tradition.
The service staff excelled in their roles, striking a commendable balance between professionalism and warmth, ensuring that every aspect of the tea session flowed seamlessly.
However, while the carnivore selection of sandwiches was indeed flavourful, they bordered on the rich side. Similarly, the vegetarian options presented a mixed bag. Apart from the tofu, which stood out for its taste and texture, the other offerings lacked the expected zest and palatability.
A notable area of improvement was the seating. The chairs, though undoubtedly stylish, posed challenges for taller patrons, leading to potential discomfort over prolonged periods.
On the topic of pricing, the £70 per person tag felt slightly on the higher side. Given the overall quality and experience, a more balanced pricing would enhance the value proposition for guests.
In conclusion, Cafe Royal’s afternoon tea offers a mostly delightful experience, with room for improvement in certain areas. With a few tweaks, it could very well set the gold standard for afternoon teas in London.
Had a lovely afternoon tea at Cafe' Royal. The service was excellent and the staff were very gracious & accommodating. It has of course the feel of a very ostentatious place. Lovely setting and interiors which I love. Food was lovely. Not so keen on the beef/mustard sandwich. Too strong for my liking. It was a nice experience with my friends.
