We can highly recommend this place! Very tasty, traditional food and a lovely service. The whole atmosphere is very nice and you will be definetly full afterwards! :)
This is a very cosy family run restaurant, especially the room at the back with the traditional decor and low tables. Since it was out first time trying Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine we were explained the menu and how the dishes are served and supposed to be eaten. We went for one of the set menus and enjoyed every part of the meal. The dishes are served on a big tray/plate with the traditional sourdough bread/pancakes on the side. Basically you are eating with your hands using pieces of the bread as cutlery. It was an exiting experience and we very much enjoyed our dinner. The only thing that is a little bit of an acquired taste is the bread (injera) as it traditionally has a specific sour taste. You can have your meal with either rice or pita bread instead. The service is awesome, we got a free history/culture lesson in addition to our meal. Very good value for money as well.
A must try for desert is the traditional coffee serves with baklava and...popcorn! Yes! And it is superb!
It was one of the nicest Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants I've been to. The manager, Daniel was extremely friendly and made sure we felt very comfortable. I really liked the fact that people couldn't talk on cell phones in the restaurant. One had to step out to make a call, which made complete sense since you've come to dine with your family or friends and dont want to hear people talking loudly on their cellphones. While we waited for our food the staff kept us involved with some games that were really interesting. Loved the food here; it was bit rich and spicy but guess that's how Ethiopian food is. Everything was super delicious and we were offered free tea to end our meal. The only negative I would say is that we had a to wait a long while for our food; for almost 50 mins.
For years I have driven past Mosob thinking it looked quite popular. One evening, looking for something different to try, we stopped by. The restaurant normally looks very busy in the evenings, but we were fortunate to find a table for two. The owner is in most nights and he explained that the recipes they use are his mothers; authentic Eritrean homemade food. The staff are very friendly and service is good; they are quite happy to chat about what and how much to order, Eritrean food and culture, and football…
A very good experience at this delightful Eritrean restaurant - the food is very similar to Ethiopian food with injeera their dosa like pancake being the base food - to that you add the awesome veg and non veg dishes all of which have their delicious ghee 'kibbeh'. The key spice is Mit- mita made out of the local Ethopian chilli and Berbere. They retail this at this most awesome restaurant - we were about 10 of us some veggies and some meat eaters and the food was fantastic. The restuarant has a fantastic ambience and the local folk East African music created the most amazing setting. We had awesome service and here would like to single out Henry who not only explained the food but more than delivered to the hungry bunch ( reasonable experts on Ethopian food) - all in all a great place to go - highly recommend it. Don't forget to order the Ethopian coffee well in advance as it takes time to brew but what the hell good things don't come easy !!
This was our first experience with Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine and the bar has been set quite high. Loved our experience at Mosob. The booking process was easy and fast. The staff was super welcoming and friendly, accommodating to our seating preferences. For starters, we had the vegetable sambosa which was really tasty. For mains, we shared the Asmara platter for 3 people which was a massive portion and definitely more than enough. It was really flavorful and full of different options including beef stew, shredded lamb, spinach, vegetables, boiled egg, and my favorite was the chicken stew. Highly recommended!
super fresh injera, not as many portions as we’re use to but all really yummy! we got the veggie platter for 2 which was a bit expensive compared to everywhere else we’ve gone but it came with 2 appetizers & service was attentive which is rare to come across. definitely worth a try!
First time trying Eritrean food but I was so happy to have stumbled upon this restaurant. The server was so informative about the dishes and helped us decide what to order, and the service was really friendly. Highly recommend
This is the first time I've tried Eritrean food - it was amazing! I didn't know anything about the food, so I asked a staff and she recommended lamb and vegetables, which was a really good choice! And authentic beer went well with the food.
Outstanding food and service! Although the ambience can be a little better.
We went for the Ethiopian vegetarian platter and it was delicious.
