Had the most amazing experience ever. I went to many hotels for dinner, but this has to be the best so far. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, the drinks were fab. They even have halal food. They gave us a gift before we left. The waiters were so nice. Can’t wait to go again

Best pina colada around (non alcoholic for me) and always comes with the trimmings - nuts and mini bites. One star off as last time we ordered food and it wasn’t on par with the drinks. Keep it light with a few snacks and drinks, you can’t go wrong. Beautiful and relaxing setting. Pure luxury.

I had wanted to book for afternoon tea but it was all fully booked on the day that I required and instead I booked lunch instead. This turned out to be a great situation as lunch dragged into the first part of the afternoon tea time and it allowed me to sample both. The dining room had amazing décor and atmosphere. The tall maitre'd at the entrance was very welcoming and gave me a choice of tables. I loved the lamps on each table conveying a sense of comfort and intimacy. The waiters addressed us by name and introduced us to the menu with great expertise. The food servings was good, much better than other fine dining venues wherein often mains are just a mouthful. I ordered the Claridge chicken pie which was sumptuous and amazing. The waiter served the pie to me in a way that made me realise that there is far more elegance and a fine art to pies than I had ever known. I also ordered the soup and scallops as entrees. Both delicious. I lingered for close to 2 hours as I was enjoying everything and the afternoon tea had just started. For completeness, I then ordered a spearmint tea which gave me an idea of why this place is famed for afternoon tea. The tea was served with sweets which were divine. I expected an astronomical bill given the amazing environment, service and food but was very pleasantly surprised to find that the price was also extremely reasonable when compared to other establishments of this calibre. Would definitely visit again given half a chance.

My friend and I dined at the Foyer and Reading room during an extended visit to London last time. A fascinating, grand venue and a great location for a bit of celebrity spotting. Food, drink and service were first class, did not disappoint. Not cheap, but nevertheless worth every penny, you get what you pay for!! Can't wait to return on our next visit to London.

One of my favorite places for good breakfast in London Town. They have a wide range of choices when it comes to breakfast (English, American, Asian, vegetarian) which I quite like.

Wow! Absolutely beautiful. Went for my birthday, but also because I thought it was a must when in London! I'm very glad I went- the service was really good, making you feel really special and posh! Knowing it was my birthday, they brought me a special dessert with a cute message from chocolate - a very special touch which shows they go the extra mile! The atmosphere was beautiful, with pretty crockery and plates, chandeliers, and a pianist! The only problem was that We only got to try one tea which is sad as they had such an extensive list! Not sure if you could have different varieties but if you could then it wasn't made clear, and if you can't then that's a bit silly. It was gorgeous though, where even the bathrooms in the hotel were crazy- with sofa chairs! What?! Really cool! Haha.

The experience you have in Claridges is really not comparable to any other London Hotel.

From the moment you walk in you feel a million dollars. The staff are so attentive and on point.

I went for some champagne and scallops. The scallops are to die for.

I then had the Dover sole for my main.

Great for the celeb spotting too!

A trip to London is incomplete without a high tea experience so I booked myself in (1 month in advance) for a session at Claridges. The reading room and foyer is an elegant ensemble of armchairs, table lamps, smartly dressed waitstaff and a pianist and violinist to add to the ambience.

Range of options for high tea includes a selection of sandwiches, followed by scones and finally some delectable petite desserts.

My favourites from the sandwiches were the poached scottish salmon with dill mayonnaise and lemon on malt bread and the dorrington ham, whipped brown butter, crab apple, mustard and watercress on rye bread. There were a total of 6 different sandwich types. Each one used fresh and fluffy breads and the sandwich fillings had the right paste-like texture, not to soggy or too dry. Now you might already be inclined to stuff your face with the sandwiches but I assure you they saved the best for last, so DO NOT ask for a second serve of sandwiches.

Scones themselves are not the best I have had but oh my goodness, that Marco Polo jelly really blew my mind. Marco Polo jelly is a sort of tea-infused jam, with very subtle flavours of tea, bergamot and vanilla. Where have you been all my life? The Cornish clotted cream that accompanied was thick, luscious, creamy and stuck to your spoon. High grade stuff! Almost like it was churned on the spot.

Finally came the little desserts, 4 pieces of glorious sugary delights. My favourites were the hazelnut dacquoise, blueberry cremeux, crispy feuillentine and white chocolate and the sour cherry and vanilla mascarpone mousse. The first had such complex flavour infusions, each adding a layer of texture and complexity (the moment when the white chocolate breaks, the soft cream of blueberry and the crispy texture of the feuillentine). The cherry mascarpone had such a glorious balance of flavour with the sourness of the cherries balanced with the sweetness and smoothness of the vanilla mousse and a perfectly tinted jelly encasing the mouse.

With over 30 teas on the menu to choose from, we were certainly spoilt for choice. You can drink as many as you can muster throughout the 3 hour session but they have recommendations for what pairs better with savoury vs sweet. My personal favourite was the second flush muscatel darjeeling, a black tea drank without milk with a soft floral aroma and notes of muscatel grapes.

60 pounds for afternoon tea is a lot but it is money well spent and an unforgettable experience at Claridges. Service staff are extremely professional and attentive. I hope I will have a chance to visit this brilliant place again.

Went to Claridges for my birthday dinner. Service was exceptional! The atmosphere was perfect for a fine dining experience. We had a three course meal, and everything tasted lovely. Enjoyed the dessert the most. Nice experience for an occasion.

Claridge’s is my favourite London hotel; the service and the food are impeccable especially when it comes to their gluten free afternoon tea which is my number 1 in London but I decided it was high time to see what other gluten free dining options they had available so G and I had a lunch date.

Famous for afternoon tea. Always busy and usually requires a booking. However, sometimes you can get lucky and a table or two will be available. Depending on how you look and how you're dressed, the maitre d' will direct you to a table. Having spent the entire day shopping and deciding on an impromptu visit, we were shafted to the bar area. Same menu, but without the breezy lightness of the main room. This is a fancy English hotel, so it goes without saying that the afternoon tea is excellent. The selection of tea is vast, the coffee, not as much. Would have scored it higher, but the maitre d's attitude let it down.

The best afternoon tea experience I ever had. Great selection of sandwich. I loved mushrooms, salmon and sour cream with cucumber sandwich. I selected tea called russian caravan. Amazing tea I ever had. The ambiance is so royal. People who like hot chocolate might fall in love with it. The thick hot chocolate with a portion of marshmallows is like dream come true. The scones were unforgettable. The jam and cream. You would be totally blessed to enjoy.

Had afternoon tea here once- simply amazing.

The staff were very attentive, we had a choice of where to sit. The food was to die for and the atmosphere was magical. There was a pianist and a cellist playing soft music which added to the whole experience. the sandwiches were very beautiful and you could ask for more. The scones were warm and the pastries were amazing.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for good afternoon tea in Mayfair!

For me this is London's number 1 establishment for afternoon tea regardless if you are have dietary requirements or not!  There is service and then there is Claridge's and after four afternoon tea experiences I can safety say this is the best you will find in London.

The gluten free sandwiches have the traditional fillings of egg, chicken, salmon and cucumber and the the softest and lightest bread you will ever eat.  I actually request more sandwiches when I'm at Claridge's as they are so good.

The gluten free scones are incredible and the best in town.  I'm not a huge fan of the Gelee however they are happy to provide an alternative on request - I'm much happier with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

The gluten free pastries are creative and you won't be disappointed.  And something that I didn't realise was that the gluten free pastries are changed regularly so you won't be bored with what is on offer.  The pastry chefs at Claridge's go above and beyond when it comes to dietary requirements so I would recommend booking a gluten free or lactose free afternoon tea at Claridge's if you can get a booking.

The booking is the hard part as they are always full however I'm finding it easier to get a booking over the past few months so always check their website.

This is my number 1 afternoon tea in London!  Book it now!

For a long time, I dismissed afternoon tea as a twee, anachronistic routine laid on purely for day-trippers and tourists. I was in no rush to drop half a ton on some cold sandwiches and cakes, and I saw little to recommend spending an afternoon in a stuffy hotel foyer surrounded by loud Texans in ill-fitting house jackets. Real Londoners, I thought, should avoid it in the same way we'd avoid the changing of the guard or Portobello Road on Saturdays - let's leave afternoon tea for the tourists, and cut our own crusts off some Boots Meal Deal sandwiches if we felt so inclined and head down the pub.

In most cases, too, I still think I'm right - there are way too many places doing this kind of thing pretty half-heartedly (think bought-in sandwiches and cakes and packet jams) just so some timid out-of-towners can tick it off their "things to do" list, and none of them are cheap. They all suffer from that depressingly common affliction of anywhere popular with tourists - like Leicester Square restaurants and Madame Tussaud's, if you're going to be full anyway, why bother being good?

So it's all the more impressive that despite all the reverse-snobbery and emotional baggage I took with me to Claridge's of a Sunday afternoon for a friend's birthday, I managed not only to enjoy a few hours of the most wonderful gastronomic theatre, but left with my mind completely changed about the ceremony of afternoon tea itself.

That ceremony begins the moment you step through the handsome revolving door from Brook Street, onto the gleaming black and white marble floor, and up to the twinkly foyer restaurant. It's a building to take your breath away - luxurious, certainly, but refined and elegant in a way that nowhere else could dream of matching. Not even its closest rivals, the Dorchester or the Connaught or (arguably) the Savoy can manage this kind of effortless, stately glamour; even the odd modernist touches, such as the vast Dale Chihuly glass chandelier coiling out from the middle of the foyer ceiling, only seem to compliment the art deco twirls and flourishes and the floor-to-ceiling mirrors. The word "timeless" almost only tells half the story - Claridge's seems to exist in an entire enchanting, glittering dimension of its own.

In this hotel attention to detail is everything. And so, with the arrival of crustless finger sandwiches on a classic Limousin porcelain, anything even slightly out of place would have raised a (polite, gently disapproving) eyebrow. But the sandwiches were seemingly cut with a razor blade and ruler in immaculate rows, accompanied by delicate gougeres which dissolved into cheesy savouriness the second they hit the tongue. Sandwich flavours were traditional, but with the occasional unexpected twist. Smoked salmon, for example, was pressed not next to normal dairy but "shrimp butter" and samphire, adding an extra seafoody dimension, and roast chicken tasted of the highest quality bird and a mysterious note of tarragon.

Once the savouries had disappeared, they were replaced (gracefully, almost invisibly) with mini scones, home made jam and quite honestly the best clotted cream I've ever tasted in my life. Dense without being cloying, tasting of farm-freshness and as bright as the driven snow, it was magical stuff, and we still talk about it. It would almost - no, it would, definitely - be worth going back just for that.

And nothing so simple as "cakes" to follow the scones, either. No, instead here are four examples of the finest French patisserie, including a cherry cake with a handsome flourish of carved chocolate on top, an eclair with a gentle pear flavour, and a kind of blackcurrant medallion with an elaborate topping of soft meringue. Again, not a berry, base or button out of place. Some of us couldn't finish them (not me of course, but I was sure to cast a disapproving glance at those in question), and they were boxed up and tied with ribbons to take home.

Teas are by expert tea-lady Henrietta Lovell, the house champagne is Laurent Perrier (of which we took full advantage), and on the way out you're encouraged to fill your own bags of Victoriana confectionary for the journey home. Everything gleams with care and attention; you can't - you literally are unable to - fault any of it, from start to finish.

Well, almost everything. For as much fun and joy as afternoon tea at Claridge's undoubtedly is, blimey do you pay for it. The advertised £50 a head is just the start - with service, champagne and God knows what else (I don't think they even include tax as part of the inital £50 but I could be wrong, annoyingly I forgot to take a picture of the bill) you'll probably not get away with much less than £80 per person. And I'm not so much of a hopeless Claridge's fan to understand that is way, way more than what most people want or are able to spend on tea and cakes.

But what tea and cakes. And yes it's a lot of money but I honestly enjoyed this more than I've enjoyed many £80 dinners at restaurants elsewhere. The cliché about afternoon tea is that the sandwiches and cakes aren't really the point, that it's more about the formalities and traditions and stealing glances at old Mayfair ladies with big hair than the food. This, in many lesser places, is certainly true. But along with all that, serenaded by piano and cello and in the most beautiful dining room in London, at Claridge's you also get food and drink of purest gold. Surely that's worth paying for, once in a while?

Had a breakfast with the wife at the The Foyer & Reading Room and it was a luxurious and tasty experience. Ordered the Shakshouka, Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, Buttermilk Pancakes and a selection of Charcuterie and Cheeses. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Portion sizes were good. The cheese and charcuterie were rather minimalistic in terms of selection, expected more variety. The atmosphere is luxurious and you can feel the history of the room. Service was mostly good, a bit slow, could be more attentive. Bill wasn't cheap obviously but this is to be expected.

Took my husband for tea for his Birthday, everything was perfect, we like the iconic striped crockery. Large selection of tea, but the most important for as a gluten free and vegan the variety of sandwiches and cakes. You won’t find it in any establishment in London, we have need in few places. They even offered non-alcoholic champagne, which is nice for a non-drinker. So we highly recommended for you to experience great place, service and food, definitely cone back. You also can have breakfast or lunch there! The only one thing is slightly disappointed that many people didn’t obey with a dress code, loads trainers (not smart), jeans and casual sweatshirts (not smart),

Went for Afternoon Tea and the experience was great. From the ambience, to the service to the experience to the food was impeccable. If you happen to get Valentina looking after you, even better. The teas and sandwiches and cakes were all delicious too. The Claridge's blend fruit tea and Jasmine tea would be our recommendations. The scones were fresh and the jelly was light and full of flavour

A friend and I had afternoon tea here last week and we were NOT disappointed. The room itself is beautiful, there was live piano music accompanied by violin, and each and every employee and server we interacted with was welcoming, kind, and helpful. We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. It’s not cheap, but the food is exquisite, with various sandwiches, fresh scones, and cakes. Our server brought out an additional try of sandwiches as well as another pot of tea. At the end, we were so full that we couldn’t finish most of the cakes and she happily boxed up the remaining cakes AND gave us an additional box of fresh scones and jars of jam. I didn’t want to go somewhere "stuffy" and feel out of place if I wasn’t super dressed up, and this was perfect, as people were dressed in everything from a zip up hoodie to a jacket and tie. I was very happy with our experience here and would certainly go back again!

Perfect high tea experience! This was a great afternoon with excellent staff, the sandwiches stole the show for me, and team encouraged me to to try multiple teas to compliment the food. Start either the rose and then move to the teas- can’t wait to come back! My favorite tea was the cloud - delicate black tea. I enjoyed reading through all the descriptions.

Not my every day spot but worth the visit! We had the canapé platter to begin with. The duck wraps and gougere were the tastiest. I absolutely loved it! Had the steak, medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Dessert was a hazelnut meringue with caramel cremeux. Service was also top notch! All in all a good meal and great dining experience.
