This really reminded me of vacations in France. Good food at good value.
We both had the prix fixe menu of salad, duck confit and a side priced at £17. Salads was a simple affair of mixed leaves dressed in a well emulsified vinaigrette spiked with dijon.
Confit leg was tasty and probably finished in the deep fat fryer as the skin was exceeding crisp and well rendered. That said, the meat itself was a little on the dry side.
For sides we had truffle oil fries and puy lentils cooked with mirepoix. The truffle oil fries were a revalation. Thin, with skin on, and redolent with the scent of truffle. Very crisp and not greasy, so likely double fried at the correct temperature. Puy lentils were lovely but not seasoned. Actually the sweetness of shallots and carrots complemented the salty confit very well.
The house red was pleasantly quaffable and priced at £15 for half a litre.
Given that i work in hospitality as well, there was not a single thing i could fault about this place. Upon entry we were greeted by 3 phenomenal waitresses who really and truly went above and beyond. Special mention to Sibilla - you honestly made this evening really special and the fact you helped me celebrate my 25th birthday in such a heart warming way really touched my heart ❤ love you all so much and i hope you make all future guests feel as treasured as we did today xxx
Went for lunch on a Monday. It was quite and while we reserved, I don't think a reservation was necessary. The service was excellent. The beer was very cold and very nice. Cocktails were tasty. The food was delicious. Highly recommended the duck burger, it was melt in the mouth and very juicy.
