Not your average holiday home fare, Rafters is killing it with quality food, wines and music. I ate here twice and each occasion was well worth the visit.
The mussels were some of the best I've had, the hand cut, double cooked chips are superb. The house wine is some of the best house I've tasted, and with an impressive wine list for somewhere so remote, someone has put thought into this!
My haddock and chips was equally fresh and top notch, my only complaint-the pea portion-they were so tasty I could have eaten a bowl full. The home made sorbet was super smooth, soft and creamy too.
On top of that there's the background music, a wonderfully curated vinyl record collection provides a classy playlist of gems for the evening.
All in all a great find, top work team Rafters, I'll be back next Summer.
Amazing food always made to order by talented Chef Donald!
A great place to go whether you are just looking to have coffee, lunch, dinner (booking advised) or perhaps a cocktail or two prepared by King of the decks and mixology wizard Bobby Beige.
It is so good we keep going back!
Our favourites include tempura vegetables, mussels, fish finger ciabatta, seared scallops with haggis crumb, cider gel and sauteed pear. Veggie haggis is available.
Located in the grounds of Castle Sween Holiday Park - everybody is welcome including dogs.
Car parking is located in front of Rafters (to the right as you reach the bottom of the road)
Food was excellent. The welcome was better. Lovely folks. Was not sure you had to stay in Caravan park to dine here. Anyone finding this Gem just rock on down. Advise to book as not to miss out. If I'm ever back down with work will be sure to be back.
