Me and my wife Janet stayed on a one night stay with evening meal and breakfast. Such a pleasant place where you can go and relax and enjoy the scenery. The room we had was spacious and clean but the food was the high light of our stay, cooked to perfection. We'd like to thank Alan and Luke for making our stay a memorable one. We would recommend to anyone. 10/10.
We try to go there as much as we can, and for years, the restaurant has been a jewel in the rather sparse offering in that part of Wales. I was amazed when we discovered the place quite a few years back!
The original owner have partially retired but still their presence and flair is still around, and from what I'm told, they are still involved in menus and wine selection.
The place is a must visit, just because they have a menu and service that is way, WAY beyond what you would expect in this part of the country. Really excellent products -- short but very well chosen menus, the service is excellent as well.
One little 'down' last time was the rather ... 'interesting' wine. It was not bad as 'gone wrong' but I thought it was not up to scratch with the rest.
Still, looking forward to go back soon.
We stayed over a weekend as part of a hiking trip in the Brecons, around a 20 minute drive away. The welcome was superb, Rosie going out of her way to make our visit really special. After the long days hike up Pen y Fan she bought us up pre dinner G&Ts to enjoy whilst we soaked our aches away.
The food is quite superb- local, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. I enjoyed rib eye one night as a main with duck the next, washed down with a great house red. I have had many (too many!) cooked breakfasts in my time and this one was one of my best ever, I am not kidding. Thanks Rosie for saving some of the home made marmalade, superb.
