This restaurant provides two good things, the ambiance, and the food. But it excels at another. Service. The owner/head chef is also one of the waiters, so she knows very well how much to order per person as to not waste any food, and will always take care of anything you need with an honest smile.
In terms of the food, it was great. Not amazing, but great.
You have 2 menus to order from: a Chinese food menu, and a Korean food menu. We went with the latter.
As a starter, we had the mixed kimchi, which had 4 bowls of different kinds of Korean-style fermented vegetables, like cabbage, cucumber (the best one by far), and radish (the worst one by far). We also asked the owner what was her favorite starter, and she recommended the beef dumplings, which you very much should order, as they are delicious.
For the main course, we had the Spicy Rice Cakes (tteok-bokki), and the Eel Bibimbap.
At first, it might seem like the Rice Cake portion is small, but as most rice based dishes, it is surprisingly filling. Flavor wise, it was good, but it truly shined in it's texture.
The Eel Bibimbap was truly delicious, but it had 2 faults in our opinion. The eel still had a fair amount of bones, and the bowl wasn't hot enough, so it didn't create that crust of crispy rice on the edges that you expect from a Bibimbap.
The total bill (with the 50% off from the Eat Out to Help Out programme) was 19.35£ (38.70£ without the discount) for 2 people.
Overall, the restaurant has a good representation of Korean food, a decent price/value, and what in my opinion is an amazing, welcoming and almost family-like service.
Thank you Ming (the owner).
Liverpool has been needing a good Korean restaurant, so this was a welcome discovery. It has quite a good selection on the menu and the food is pretty decent. Very filling portions and good flavours, it's so satisfying to get Bibimbap in a proper hot stone bowl.
The place is tidy and clean and has a nice atmosphere and the staff are nice. Will probably go back again some day to try the hot pot!
Very very happy with the Korean food. Visited midweek and easily got a booth, seemed popular with Asian students. Waiter seemed a little grumpy, though not overly so and service was still good, senior staff member/manager was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place 4.5 / 5
