Absolutely blown away by everything about Pollen....apart from the dessert.
We had a great meal here and a wonderful time. The first two courses were exceptionally executed and absolutely delicious (I will remember the black pudding and poached egg with bacon jam for some time!). The waiter was probably the best I have experienced in quite some time so massive credit to him; excellent interaction with the diners and fantastic wine recommendations. Pollen is also very good value for money.
Sadly the dessert, though, was dreadful. The chocolate chia pudding was a bland puddle and the deconstructed cheesecake was also tasteless and underwhelming. Pollen would be an easy 5-stars if not for that.
A shame to end on that note but don't let it put you off coming here, perhaps just skip the dessert course!
Decided to book a table at this restaurant due to its close proximity to our hotel. My wife had undergone eye surgery earlier that day so somewhere Small with subdued lighting was required. We were not disappointed by either the food, staff, service & generosity given. They moved us to a quieter/darker area due to the eye op. There was no fuss. They brought out a free dish of oysters with lemon which were a delight. All of our dishes; smoked mackerel with clams & chorizo, sea bass with asparagus, beef in red wine sauce with puff pastry, mussels in white wine & a cheeseboard were top quality along with the red wine & cocktails. There was no rush to clear our table & we left totally satisfied by what my wife described as the best dinkng experience we have had in quite some time. This restaurant is a hidden gem where the manager, chef & staff clearly are passionate about French food & ensuring their customers enjoy their dining experience & we would strongly recommend anyone to visit.
Really nice food and nice staffs
