Pubs like these are why I enjoy visiting new ones and talking to locals and these will be the ones we miss after they’re gone and it’s too late to save them. On a small side street near the bombed out church, the facade is fairly muted. Inside it’s a warm, cozy place with a few small rooms and the main bar area. Learned about this place through the Timothy Taylor’s Champion Club and it hasn’t let me down yet. Barkeep and a regular were extremely friendly and helpful to a non-local like me. Likely my favorite pub in the city, the perfect pint and bag of crisps.
Lovely old feel traditional pub. This place is still divided into rooms, the walls haven't been knocked down to make it open plan.
It felt a little bit like stepping back in time, which was lovely. Completely different experience from a 'normal' pub.
We all loved it
Absolute pub nirvana. If you want and appreciate a traditional pub, it won't get better than this. Comfortable, a good range of drinks (real ale and whisky in particular), fantastic service, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether a Liverpool local or a day tripper, a must-visit.
