Having only moved to the area a few months ago, I’m slowly working my way around the numerous eating and watering holes that Leek has to offer. Having had a few pub lunches and a few more curries and with friends visiting, we decided to try The Street Restaurant and Grill, on Russell Street, as it looked a little different with an interesting menu. Keeping it Totally Locally and all that!
The restaurant is small, only four tables, but rather than feeling cramped appears quite spacious inside. Having so few people to cater for also means the quality of the unrushed service is very high with the chef also taking time to talk to us explaining some of the dishes and the history of the restaurant.
The menu was small, something that I have complained about in the past, but this wasn’t an issue here as I could quite easily have eaten everything on the menu. No lasagne, hunters chicken or pizza here!
The food came in a reasonable time, looked good and tasted better. No small portions necessitating a visit to the chippy on the way home but not low quality ingredients bulking out the plates. In fact the quality of the produce and, below pub price, alcohol available was second to none.
We staggered out, pleasantly full, after an unrushed couple of hours, already planning our next visit here!
The best restaurant in Leek❤️ such a little hidden gem, we loved it. Great food, lovely wine and the staff were fantastic- so welcoming and friendly. A really quirky little place, will be visiting again as soon as we can get a babysitter the jerk chicken was amazing my husband is still talking about it a day later.
Really enjoyed this place, very small and informal with a limited but tasty menu selection. There are about five starters and five mains to choose from all reasonably priced. The owner/chef is very friendly and frequently comes to your table to check everything is ok and to explain about his dishes.
I would advise booking as there is only room for about 20 people.
