I stopped in here for tea my first time in Leeds after a long day at the Royal Armouries. The prices weren't bad (£3.90 for a fish and chips and £0.70 for a can of soda) and, for the meal I had, I would have paid much more. The fish was very good - large, not all breading, and fresh - and the chips were made just for us. The atmosphere was very nice as well - the decor had a modern feel, yet the old stone archway it was built into was left in tact, showing the bricks. Very nice appearance. It has very flexible hours (open "til late"), and the staff was good to us as well.
Overall, great experience - best fish I've eaten in England, and very good chips as well!
Something of note - they serve quite a variety: the normal chippy menu, kebabs, burgers, as well as breakfast, hot sandwiches, and cafe drinks (coffee, tea, latte). All of them are reasonably priced.
After some research when I got home, though, I see the place used to be called Fry-Ups. From the Google maps picture of it, I would say the place had a major upgrade since then!
Awesome chippy! Great food, fresh to order even at 4.30, and one of the best chippies I’ve had, nationwide. Five stars. Bravo lads
Long standing kebab/chip shop which serves reasonably priced food which is much needed after a night in Leeds. A few seats inside and they allow you to eat your food sat down. Can get busy so may be a bit of a wait.
