we visited over lunch time on bank holiday Monday the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing we had the ham hock special and belly pork cooked in ginger beer for mains and the rhubarb cheese cake and Yorkshire pudding with raspberries and white chocolate sauce for puddings, highly recommend and we will be visiting again soon
It was. My second visit, dinner this time. The regular locals were welcoming, as was the real fire and resident dog. The staff were attentive but not over familiar.... Then there was the food... Yummy. Started with the Yorkshire blue cheese, pear and walnut salad, then corned chicken with mushroom sauce, the most amazing fondant potato and delicious and interesting wild garlic. Desert was rhubarb cheesecake in a glass... And a very good pot of tea to follow. Well worth the long journey. Thanks to Dan and all
Lovely unspoilt pub deep in beautiful Wolds countryside. Excellent food featuring local produce, particularly game, but the food doesn’t stop it being a proper country local. Four beers on hand pump (the pub is Good Beer Guide 2017 listed); all excellent, the only minor quibble being that all were pale. Definitely worth a detour!
