I came to the St Ola to get some food before my ferry. Service was great. I had 2 pints (Banyan) and a haggis burger. It was fantastic, fast, hot and under £20. Best haggis I have had in ages - very moist. Staff are lovely. Highly recommend!
Having travelled to Orkney for the very first time it was great to be welcomed to the St Ola Hitel as if I had been going for years. Large double room with a view out into the harbour was clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced.... bed was very very comfy.... travelling the U.K. as I do, believe me I've stayed in some pretty awful places that are twice the price.... so with free wifi, a great "front bar" showing the football which is always a bonus the hotel ticked plenty boxes and with the "back" bar (lounge/restaurant) being equally as good I was pleased at my choice...however there's a but...... but........ the food..... was..... magic! Giant burger, homemade slaw, crispy onion rings and fries... for the cost of a motorway cafe coffee & cake (sarcasm) was fantastic. Service was excellent. Value for money was "on the money". Breakfast was top drawer with a quality full plate of usual fry up fare....totally set me up for the day!
I would highly recommend staying or at the very least eating out at the St Ola. With a view to making regular trips to Kirkwall for business I don't need to try any other hotels in the area now....I'll be staying and eating here! Thanks to all and have a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
My husband and I visited the St. Ola restaurant tonight and had an absolutely gorgeous meal served by a lovely young man called Daniel. He was extremely courteous, attentive and looked after us very well. The haddock was simply beautiful, fresh and very tasty followed by the Orkney ice cream with orkney fudge, Mmmm fudge heaven...... a must if visiting Orkney, you won't be disappointed!
