Fretwells only been open for a couple of years in the former Printworks of the same name. The owner has done a fantastic job of making a new pub look at though it's 200 years old. This is a proper three room pub like pubs used to be. A nice spacious bar with views over scale Lane and High Street. Separate Lounge and an excellent separate games room, with five pinball machines, a table football games and a rare 1920's bar billiards table, with a qr code so you can keep score with an app on your phone, And a Internet jukebox in the games room. Excellent often changing good choice of cask conditioned ales and other beers including a very nice elderflower larger, very Friendly staff. Not dog friendly. Outside seating area in the courtyard. Pensioners take your bus pass and you will get a discount on your beer. Highly recommended.
My 1st time in Fretwells, a lovely friendly pub with plenty of charm and a nice atmosphere.
Very nice pub, usually a good choice of beers. Can get very busy, staff very friendly and good reductions for oldies
