Especially Hull Mojo that’s is worth the visit x
The union mash up bar / venue is an on trend indie bar that has a very cosy vintage interior with quirky decor & some features that are from the Victorian era , which adds to a very unique vibe !! There are seating options upstairs and they are boho chic retro inspired e.g ornate velour Parisian style settee & chairs , with coffee style tables ideal to place your drinks , the outside seating is of a sturdy bench style & same for the outside tables & is an ideal spot for a drink & a cigarette if you wish to smoke . The bar is situated in the old part of town & attracts a varied client base , from the hipsters to the student population & even the more mature drinker who frequent the bar / venue for the special music nights they have here & many like myself travel from the length & breadth of the country to attend the mojo club r&b night !! Which is an original 45 record DJ event that plays classic rhythm & blues / soul & a pinch of ska & garage from a host of top class DJs & up & coming scenesters who make the night here a very special one . The bar has a good selection of continental strong lagers on draft , plus a good selection of fruit ciders & premium spirits all at sensible cost , the bar has an easy pay card scanner pay system & I find it easier than cash . The union mash up does have a cover charge for the popular mojo r&b night , but at five pounds it is up there with any events that are billed elsewhere in the country for more money !! . Please may I suggest you check the internet for the club event postings as they can get busy & as it's a cosy venue door numbers can be limited for safety regulations , so get there early to avoid disappointment . So if you like a shot of rhythm & blues a bit of dancing & good beer & great company the union mash up mojo nights could be for you . Even if you just pop in for a drink you will enjoy the very quirky kitsch & eclectic mix vibes of the bar it really is something different & not of the mainstream . Always a good night out !! .
Didn't try any food while here, so can't review that. But I did have a few drinks from the bar upstairs and the service was ace every time, friendly bartender with great recommendations for drinks. Atmosphere was great too, had plenty of space for the big group of people (I was there for a friend's birthday celebration so there were ~15 of us upstairs and we were all up there comfortably with still plenty of room for more)! Overall, enjoyed my time here and in this space. Only downside is I had such trouble finding the place because there was no sign anywhere on the exterior of the building! And with the torrential downpour of rain we were having last night, it wasn't fun trying to navigate finding the place, while also trying not to get blown over and drenched! Hopefully that will be fixed in future and an obvious sign can be put out front next time we come by for a night out. :)
