Went out with family for a fabulous meal at Restaurant Severn last night. It was the first time that we'd been there and absolutely everything about it was stunning. We were looked after very well by Our waiter, Callum and the proprietor, Michelle. Sadly, we didn't get chance to thank Connor and Steve in the kitchen but I would have liked to - I can honestly say that is the best food I have ever eaten......anywhere (and I've eaten in some good places). Very reasonably priced too and in a beautiful setting. We'll definitely be going back, again and again.
Had a fantastic meal here for Mother’s Day. All the food was tasty, impressive and well balanced. Although gourmet food, you come don’t come out hungry! The chef is very skilled and talented and the FOH staff attentive and knowledgeable about the products. Thank you for making our Mother’s Day very special.
Lovely Sunday Lunch
Fixed price menu with about 6 choices for each course. Olives, bread and appertisers were served between courses. We both had the scotch egg which was lovely, a little too much mustard for my taste and maybe could do with a salad garnish. I then had the roast beef which was very tasty, the veg got a little lost with the powerful red wine jus, but the Yorkshires and roasties were lovely. The star of the dish was the beef cheek it just fell apart. My husband had the belly pork which he thoroughly enjoyed the only downside being the overworked black pudding. A little more veg on both dishes would be nice and there is no need for the handful of salad leaves on top as a garnish.
Deserts were both gorgeous, tart enough to refresh without being too sharp.
Service was leisurely with the owner helping and talking to customers. A better description of the drinks on offer would be nice as we were left to guess the options available. Maybe a good selection of non alchoholic fruit drinks would be nice, many better places do a large selection of elderflower, lemongrass, traditional lemonade type drinks.
Overall a good place for Sunday lunch, better than most local places where just a carvery is served. The owners idea of a small private dining room upstairs sounds just what is needed.
