Lovely old fashioned pub in Hythe, I have never seen a pub like it, as you walk in there are rooms and bars before you get to the main bar, the food is fantastic too, would highly recommend a visit, also outside garden from which looks over the solent
Service very good, staff polite, food delicious, second time at The Lord Nelson both times excellent, going again November, would recommend anytime in Hythe that's the place to go
So, so so NOT a "Pub in Southampton" ! Rubbish!
Southampton is 20 minutes away over the water by Ferry! 35 minutes away by car.
This Pub is in the characterful village of Hythe - the Lord Nelson fits in perfectly with the nautical ambience of the area which overlooks the Solent, with liners cruising by in the far distance, out to sea, and seagulls wheeling and calling. You can sit in the sun with your beer or G&T and watch all that. In summer the hanging baskets in the garden are an absolute picture! The Lord Nelson is clean, well run, does tasty food and is the oldest pub in Hythe. SOuthampton??? Pah !
