Fantastic pub, fantastic staff, fantastic food. We stumbled across this pub by chance our party of four along with 3 dogs and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. This is like being in your own local. I've travelled a bit and drank and ate in a lot of places but the hospitality we were shown was second to none, the lovely landlady even gave us a couple of mugs for getting a cuppa in the morning at the posh pods as we forgot to bring some. I recommend this place as a 5 star plus. The food was beautiful I ate the home made steak pie and was delighted to the extent I asked the chef his recipe. If you find yourself in this lovely little town please stop by and you'll be thankful you did. Big thank you to the landlady and landlord and to all the staff for making our visit so good.

A quaint traditional English pub, great staff and friendly locals. A jewel in North Yorkshire. The landlord was very friendly and attentive. A dog friendly pub too, with biscuits and water on tap. The menu was traditional English pub grub, chose the gammon platter with 2 pieces of gammon 2 sausages chips peas and side salad, the missus chose the scampi. The chips were hand cut and cooked to order asking with the gammon and sausages. The gammon was succulent and tasty, not overly salty and the eggs were perfect runny yolk and no sign of uncooked white. The sausages were juicy and very tasty. The amount of food for the cost was amazing fantastic value for money and will definitely be going again before we go home. A jewel near the coast well with a visit will call again even if we have to travel from home its that good, worth the 90 odd mile trip to have lunch and take the dogs to the beach for a good run around after lunch! We'll see you again.

Went to this pub on Sunday for lunch with some friends. Delecious food that was great value for money. Very friendly staff. Miles better than a Toby/weatherspoons etc. Wasn't keen on the oats in the apple crumble but that's just my taste. Will definitely be returning next time we are in the area.
