Overall a good experience and a lovely ambience. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable but felt quite rushed in putting dishes down. Great wine selection and decent by-the-glass options. Some of the dishes sounded great on the menu but didn’t quite come together. Good but not great.

Located on the high street of Hove, Fourth and Church attracts passers with its charm and sophistication. We had been meaning to pay them a visit for a while and finally did last week for a date. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with an elegant but welcoming ambiance. The menu at Fourth and Church focuses on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, each dish presents a unique blend of flavours. They offer snacks, small plates and hearty main courses. We went for a few of each as we were very excited to try everything. To snack on, we had Whipped Cod’s Roe with Old Bay Crisps (£6), Cornmeal Fried Oyster Mushrooms with Confit Garlic Cream drizzled on top (£7.5), and Iberico de Bellota (£10). The cod’s roe was creamy and paired well with the savoury crisps. The fried mushrooms were crispy and the cream was so garlicky, absolutely delicious. For our small plates, we opted for Porcini and Madeira Parfait with Pickled Mushrooms on Toasted Focaccia (£12). This was the highlight of our dinner. The parfait was creamy, the mushrooms were so flavourful and the dish was presented beautifully. We also had Hake Veronique with Fennel, Red Grape, Vermouth and Tarragon (£13). The hake was cooked perfectly and flaky. For our main course, we shared Slow Cooked Pork, Mussel Escabeche with Black Garlic Aioli and Smoked Almonds (£22). The pork was full of rich, aromatic flavors that melt in your mouth, while the mussels were slightly tangy and cut through the fattiness of the pork. Oh and I can’t go without mentioning the decadent whiskey truffles. Complementing the incredible food is an extensive wine list, carefully curated to pair seamlessly with the menu. No wonder they won “Best Wine List” in the BRAVO awards! Whether you're a wine connoisseur or a casual enjoyer (like me), the staff can help you through the selection. Thank you Peter for choosing our wines, they were delicious! Service at Fourth and Church is impeccable, with attentive staff who are passionate about providing a memorable dining experience. Peter kindly made sure that our food would come out slowly so that we could enjoy our wine with each dish and not feel rushed. We had a wonderful date at Fourth and Church. The food and wine is delicious. The service is top tier. I have no complaints at all, I’d definitely recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the invite, Anton!

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Fourth and Church. She's a dedicated foodie living in London; cooking is her primary hobby. I live in Calgary, Canada, and count on her to research and select restaurants for us to try when I'm in London. We always spend a couple of nights at the seaside, and Brighton and Hove was the perfect getaway. We chose the seasonal set menu and were not disappointed. All the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive and professional. We chose the smoked cod's roe pani puri to start and then had the porcini and madeira parfait and pickled mushrooms on toasted focaccia. Both were outstanding. The slow cooked pork with mussel escabeche, black garlic aioli and smoked almonds almost did us in. What incredible flavours. My daughter suspected the pork was cooked sous vide, and she was right. It was so soft and decadent you could bring your grandma and she wouldn't even need her dentures. Our only complaint was the amount – two pieces of pork was too much! It was so amazing we couldn't leave any behind and had to take the cheese course back to our B&B to leave room for dessert. The gubbeen was a real treat the next day. I was worried we'd be charged for a fridge clean because this is one stinky cheese. Seriously good. The dessert was divine and very pretty. Mont Blanc of chestnut, agen prune and pedro ximinez. Yummy! The cocktails and wine were also excellent. Very highly recommend.
