A time-honored British tradition came alive at The Olde Pump House in Hastings as I embarked on a delightful culinary journey with their quintessential Fish and Chips. Nestled within the historic walls of this 15th-century pub, the experience was nothing short of a nostalgic escapade to the heart of tradition.
Upon my plate arrived a beautifully presented duo – perfectly golden-brown battered fish paired with a generous serving of golden fries. The initial crunch as I bit into the crispy exterior gave way to the tender, flaky fish within. The batter, a harmonious blend of lightness and crispiness, was a testament to the pub's dedication to culinary craftsmanship.
What truly elevated this dish was the quality of the ingredients. The fish, undoubtedly fresh, maintained its natural flavors, accentuated by a delicate seasoning that balanced the oceanic notes. The fries, a true embodiment of the art of frying, retained their fluffy interior while boasting an addictive crunch.
In the heart of Hastings, The Olde Pump House keeps the spirit of fish and chips alive, paying homage to a cherished culinary heritage. It's a celebration of simplicity, executed with finesse and a nod to the past. Whether you're a local or a traveler seeking an authentic taste of British culture, this classic dish at The Olde Pump House is an experience that shouldn't be missed.

A delicious, home-style meal. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced. Only issue I had was the table & chairs were not the easiest to sit at, but if it was a huge problem, I would've changed seat. Would go back
Lovely traditional pub in the centre of old town. Great atmosphere with lots of people dressed as pirates, very good. Despite being busy we managed to get a table inside and served quickly.
