Stayed for one night in room 9
which is on the third floor with a lovely view from the window . You can hear the sound of rushing water with the window open but once closed its just a background noise. I found it quite soothing whilst lying in the huge double bed. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and freshly cooked. We were looked after by a lovely young lady who didn't mind us asking lots of questions about the history of the hotel.
Breakfast was just as good. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict
I can honestly say it's the best one I've ever eaten! My husband had the full English breakfast and he finished the lot off. The lovely Italian waitress was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Will definetely stay here again:)
Thoroughly recommend a stay at this wonderful hotel. Ended up stranded in Salisbury because of the snow and having to find a hotel with walking distance of the train station (no taxis running). A 15 minute walk and I was at this hotel. Pauline on reception was incredibly friendly and helpful despite the fact that I arrived after 9.30pm. I was booked in quickly and my double room was spacious, warm and well equipped with plenty of tea making, biscuits, TV and toiletries for the en suite. They have definitely thought about their guests as there were plenty of plug sockets in front of or near to mirrors and seats/tables. WiFi was good and the TV had a good selection of free view channels. They even provided ear plugs just in case the water mill wheel was too noisy but I did not need these. The bed was super comfy with a choice of hard or soft pillows. I had a lovely view over the lake part of the stream and fields. Shower was absolutely fine and loved the heated towel rack. The Breakfast was amazing. I opted for the full English and it was superb with lovely crispy bacon, a farmer's style sausage, black pudding, beans, tomato, mushrooms, egg, hash browns and toast. There was also a self service for cereal, fruit and juice. This was definitely a lovely end to a horrible day and I am so glad I found this hidden little gem.
It's a lovely place peaceful and relaxing right on the river with lovely gardens good food and nice friendly staff
