Discovered this place as we were driving around and felt hungry and just found the nearest place with a good rating, and it's a rating well deserved.
This place is a small traditional fish & chip shop and reminds me of the one I went to as a kid in the 80's in Bell Hall. Simple menu, realistic pricing, good portions, clean, friendly staff, great smell outside drawing you in. The only modern thing was the till and the take card payments otherwise it's traditional so the hours are chippy hours, no food app ordering, no kebabs/chicken/pizzas etc they stick to what they are good at. I wish they could take over some more chippys as this is what people want which is why 6 people were in front of me and the guy who came in after me said it was his first time like me and the smell enticed him in.
Keep up the good work!
Just back from holiday abroad and hubby fancied fish & chips. Did nt know where to go any more for decent ones. So I googled and came across summer heywood in Gilbert Street.
Well this just finished off my holiday, the staff are so jolly and give a great vibe. The food smelt amazing while I was waiting for the fish too be fried all done to order.
