A brilliant chippy, with an incredible choice! We were passing through Hale and called in as had a real craving for Fish and Chips. WA14 really satisfied our need! Delicious and freshly cooked, the Cod was meaty and full of fresh flavour, and there was a generous offering of chips. Thank you!

A chippie with a website? Surely that sort of thing only happens down south. However, this is Hale so a smart website seems de rigueur for even a corner shop. I ticked off the aptly named WA14 Fish & Chips on my quest to find my new favourite chippie. The portions are sizeable and everything is up to the mark when you stick to the tried and tested options. It’s when you go off piste and start ordering the monkfish tail and sea bass that things get interesting. Happen to wander in by accident and change your mind about a pescatarian meal, no worries. The options extend beyond pies and sausages if the owner is in whipping up chilli or chicken curry. I was going to rate it on par with The Good Catch but their home made tartar sauce is just that wee bit better, thereby pipping them to the post. For now.

Great fish and chips in Hale Barns - definitely value for money and worth a visit. I've been 4 times recently as I've only just started back travelling in the area and every time the fish (and chips) have been quality. Also, Andrew and his staff are really pleasant and chatty 👍👍
