Booked for a Friday lunchtime, restaurant was extremely quiet and was there just after midday. Arrived and the owner was in the entrance and gave us a warm welcome and was pleased when I mentioned I'd seen him on television recently, which had made me want to visit following the review.
Staff were welcoming and during the meal I noted how upbeat they all were and working well as part of a team.
There were two people in my dining group. Ordered the chicken wings to share, a chilli dog and chilli cheeseburger. Food arrived in good time and the owner came to explain the cooking process for the wings, and then to check in with us during the meal, which I felt was a very personal touch.
Wings were excellent, food was very good. Would like to try other items on the menu on the next visit.
Overall, an enjoyable experience and would visit again.
I came to Prairie Fire on last Saturday for planned and eagerly anticipated mid-afternoon lunch. I ordered the KC Classic (brisket in a soft roll with BBQ sauce), onion rings and half a pint of London Black Porter. Brisket was delicious on its own - so soft it was melting in my mouth and very flavoursome; onion rings were crispy, generous in size and served with some sort of spicy creamy dip which was complementing them perfectly. And beer tasted heavenly after a long thirsty stroll. Food and drink was served promptly, staff was accommodating and easy-going. I was extremely pleased with this visit and can't wait to come back and sample other dishes and beers (not even a beer aficionado).
Thank you for your hospitality.
We tried the Cowtown sandwiches (brisket, bbq sauce, molten cheese, pickled jalapeños and an onion ring), a side of tater tots and half a pint of lager. The brisket was a generous portion and a nice size. Our total bill for two was just over £50.
