What an absolute delight of a cafe. I have visited a couple of times for cake and coffee, and it has been a treat. They have a great selection of delicious cakes and scones. My partner visited the cafe with her friends and enjoyed the food. Going to the cafe is a holistic experience. To get to the cafe, unless you are a local, you drive through really beautiful countryside. The cafe itself is very picturesque. The cafe has been created using, for the most part, old farm sandstone buildings. At the front of the cafe, there is outdoor seating in a pleasant, well tended garden area. Inside it is bright and comfortable with the tables well laid out. The staff are so friendly and really make you feel welcome. Inside the cafe there is a small gift area and an area where you can buy fresh milk from the machine. I would highly recommend the Courtyard Cafe as a destination to be visited. It may be worth booking ahead as it is, rightly very popular.
Charming doesn't even begin to describe this café! Walking from the car park to the cafe is like stepping back in time to an idyllic "happily ever after" story.
First, the lovely little hen house greets you, surrounded by a garden full of apple trees and happy fouls strutting about, or lying under trees or in the sunshine. Following around to the welcoming patio was an abundance of colourful flora displays, a wee bench up against a warm stone wall, and a peek of a pathway leading to the groomed pastures which were so well cared for.
The café atmosphere beckons you to have a seat and just take in the carefully planned delightful touches of decor.
My lunch was a delicious sweet potatoe soup, and a mushroom and leek quiche. Truly superb! My table mates, each enjoyed a different option, and every item looked amazing (The Brisket surely caught my eye!). Even if you only come for tea or coffee you will not be disappointed! The selection of baked goods is remarkable and draws visitors back again and again.
My only sorrow is not having a vehicle to venture back again on my own. Travelling here was a breathtaking ride in itself. If you live in Scotland (you're truly blessed!) or passing through, be sure to put Fintry and The Courtyard Cafe on your "must see" list!
Beautifully appointed rooms and decorated. We had lovely scones with jam and cream and coffees.
