Review of the restaurant. We planned a meal out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In this part of the world, if you want top class dining, the North Star is THE place to go. The location is perfect with gorgeous views across the countryside and cliff tops. We were greeted by the manager who showed us to our table and took our drink order while we browsed the menu. The choice of food is wide and varied but we both fancied something special. The "Specials Menu" lived up to its name! I went for Venison and Black Pudding sausages with a Stilton and Black Pepper Sauce. It was heavenly! 😍 I was sad when I'd finished! My wife went for Smoked Haddock Goujons with Sweet Chilli Sauce. She said it was divine. For our mains, I chose Fillet of Haddock stuffed with Crab Meat and Prawns. Absolutely beautiful! It came with a side order of chips, which were a little under cooked for my taste. My wife chose a traditional Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and Boiled Potatoes. The mains arrived with a selection of vegetables. The Courgettes were so good! The service was unobtrusive and attentive. Just exactly what you need for a romantic dinner! The desert trolley is famous, locally, and with good reason. After a difficult decision, I went for a slice of Red Velvet cake and my wife had an ice cream. The meal came to £81.75 not including tips. As we were paying, they apologised, again, for the chips and offered to cook them well next time visited. I gave the restaurant 4 stars out of 5, which isn't a reflection of my opinion of the chips! But I felt, overall, that the food, the location and the service were all good. I couldn't give 4.5 stars and we didn't stay in the hotel so I couldn't give it 5 out of 5.
