Bitterly disappointed on this our first visit to the Six Bells. Normally used to small portions, lukewarm food with frozen vegetables served by miserable staff. The Six Bells failed in all areas, great parking, warm welcome, lovely old pub full of character, dog friendly and nice atmosphere. The meal we had was roast chicken,it arrived hot with all fresh vegetables and a massive Yorkshire pudding, the cheese cauliflower had to wait in a separate dish until space was made available on the plate, first class start to finish. We overheard other customers thank the staff before leaving, a little birthday cake was produced with candles for a celebration, great happy atmosphere. I was almost put off coming by some dire but undeserved reviews online, I travel widely and am quick to criticise if shown poor service but all this host and his young friendly team deserve is praise, I will certainly return, highly recommended.
Beautifully presented food, lovely flavours, great service, good prices. The Sunday roast is quite a large helping, as is the children's portions, but still lovely. One of my party said the chicken was a little dry, but that's the only negative. Puddings were delicious, and they had lots of great choices. Best sticky toffee pudding I've had in a long time!!
A delicious Sunday lunch with an incredible Sirloin roast, giant Yorkshire's and great veggies. Decent dessert too. Very friendly staff. I do prefer caramelised carrots...
