On South st, ideal as close to city centre, big indoor dining area as with most weatherspoons, also upstairs balcony seating, toilets upstairs with ground floor disabled toilet, nice log fire toward the back and extra outdoor garden seating, and a very nice church conversion with stain glass windows still in tact. Food is good for the value, and at time of writing there is an October festival with award winning ales and beers at £2.55.
Top pub. Its a really good Wetherspoons pub, great community local, as is more in the residential area... but still welcoming. Well run with nice friendly staff, great food, not expensive. A personal favourite when in the area.
My favourite local can't really fault it though at times it can get a bit raucous and noisy when busy but that probably goes for any pub. The food in my experience has been consistently good and still reasonable even though prices have gone up but again pretty much applies everywhere else.
