We happened upon a gem in this Michelin Honors rated restaurant. Without a reservation, we were welcomed on a Wednesday evening, which made our day. Within a 4-block walk from our Premier Inn hotel, we happened upon this restaurant and were most grateful for the drinks and food were outstanding. I had a haddock, spinach and potato dinner and my wife had a burrata and olives appetizer which was enough for her meal. My Hendricks gin and Fever Tree seltzer was the perfect accompaniment to my meal. Thank you, Josh, for accommodating us.
From the moment we made our restaurant reservations online, The Broughton in Edinburgh promised an unforgettable dining experience—and it certainly delivered. The charming atmosphere coupled with mouth-watering dishes made for an exceptional evening out.
The stylish yet cozy setting immediately welcomes you, creating the perfect ambience for a night with family or friends. The decor strikes a fine balance between modern elegance and traditional comfort, setting the tone for a memorable meal.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. The staff clearly know their menu well and were more than happy to offer recommendations, ensuring a smooth dining experience from start to finish.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. I opted for the Slow-cooked Beef Feather Blade accompanied by roast garlic mash and roasted courgette. The beef was a marvel—cooked to perfection, it melted in the mouth, and the accompanying jus added just the right amount of zest.
The mash was nothing short of amazing. Creamy and rich, it stands as some of the best mashed potato I've ever had. This dish wasn't just a meal; it was a comforting reminder of family favorites, yet elevated to a whole new level.
We split two desserts, and they were equally stunning. The Vanilla Pannacotta with Scottish strawberry and doughnut was a delightful dance of textures and flavors. The Scottish Raspberry Mille-Feuille with peach sorbet was equally divine, providing the perfect sweet end to a fantastic meal.
The Broughton lives up to the hype, delivering an extraordinary dining experience that combines the homeliness of traditional food with the elegance of fine dining. Do yourself a favor and book a table here. You won't be disappointed.
The Broughton is so underrated.
Living under the shadow of its Phoenix self, it’s odd to now go into the venue and realise it’s a new but equally wonderful place.
The staff and service is fantastic and hands down is one of the best option on the street if you’re looking to get a meal with your drink.
