Being Scottish I love a good bit of deep-fried goodness, lathered in brown sauce to exasperate the flavours of the meats I order that have been submerged in the boiling hot liquid.
La Campagnola is the only chippy that is within the confines of the West End of Edinburgh, and it delivers the greasey goodness that Scotsmen crave, and that tourists strive to find. Having had a chippy from here on several occasions, it is actually very good considering the lack of direct competition.
The staff are always very friendly and make time to chat with their customers and the chips are always made fresh - this cuts down on the cold and semi-solid chips that invade your meal. The sauce is however a let down, it is too thick for a traditional chippy sauce, which indicates that they need to add in a bit more vinegar.
All in all, it is a fine chippy and a welcome change from the delis and restaurants of the West End.
A great fish supper, light batter, fresh to order. The delicious mix kebab was so generous, there was enough for lunch and a sandwich the next day. The staff are so friendly.
I have had lots of fish and chips in my time.
This fish and chip shop really cooks fresh each time you order. The owner is very obligeing and accomodating , did'nt want fried chicken, he offered grilled chicken pieces with salad and dressings. The haddock I had is really fresh and moist. The grilled chicken pieces were freshly done and tasted good.
Considering the shop is in the city, the prices are very reasonable. I had take away, if I had eaten on the premises, the food would taste even better.🏴 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
