Mixed in with the multitude of cafes and butting shoulders with the incremental chains that are rapidly populating the West End, this charming little cafe draws the hungry traveller in with it's bright yellow front and promise of familiar food. With Haymarket station nearby swift service is likely a must for the many passing commuters who could easily dip in here. This is where the Golden Grill let me down however, as my Chicken mayo wrap took what felt like an age to arrive.
That's not to say the staff aren't friendly and attentive; the chef was very keen to make sure we enjoyed our brief visit.
My only criticism of the wrap itself was that the mayo had become nuclear in the cooking process. It was very difficult to take a bite without scalding myself on the eggy lava that secreted. This may be a downfall in my own technique so I invite you to prove me wrong, world. A wee touch of salad with the wrap wouldn't go amiss as well, but all in all decent enough in a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin kind of way.
Excellent place for a full scottish breakfast! The food was delicious and it was prepared very fast. The staff was nice. The interior is not very charming but that is not the important thing here.
We visited a couple of times over the Easter weekend for a late breakfast. The food was fresh, tasty and good value, we didn't even bother with the overpriced breakfast at out hotel. The manager was polite and was very helpful and friendly. If we are ever back in Edinburgh we will be visiting again!
