No frills but good food
Simple set up, basically casual dining experience. Good hearty satisfying bowl of noodles at roughly £10. Seating on street level as well as down stairs. Often you will see the chef hand pull the noodles in the back. We arrived at 430, so it was before the dinner rush. Waited roughly 10-15 mins for our steaming bowl of noodles. The lady who served us was very friendly. Would definitely recommend, big portions. The noodles had a nice soft chew to them . The pork won tuns had were juicy. The beef flank was full of flavour. Order at the counter and they will bring your meal out to your table.
Toilets clean, situated down stairs.
It's cash only premises.
Noodles and dumplings is friend’s favorite noodle shop which is not far from the university of Edinburgh building. Following its name I tried the most famous slice beef noodle with chili oils and dumpling.
Don’t let the colour trick you, as an Asian guy, it’s not too spicy but again spiciness is subjective capacity. The beef is tender and the noodles are well made.
The trick you can do is to ask for the soup, warming your mouth, which pleasantly accompanies the dish too.
The dumplings are alright as well.
The restaurant is spacious and can be crowded at noon.
There are more dishes to try so you can come and experience it by yourself.
Good, basic unpretentious food at unpretentious prices. The noodle portions were generous, go here if you're hungry! The surrounds are very basic and seating is tight but I'm only mentioning this so people know what to expect, as I have no complaints given the prices charged. As others have mentioned, cash only. We withdrew cash from an ATM at Saintsbury's just 20m away.
