Fantastic Mexicana Fusion
When we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff into the diminutive but vibrant restaurant.
The set up seems simple, fresh and authentic. There were images of Mexican wrestlers, posters of South American icons and a colour scheme that evokes creativity, sunshine and a sense of another continent.
So we ordered drinks almost tempted to try my best Spanish and was served beer in a cold glass: nice touch, one of the small things that can make a difference. We were then offered a list of specials that was reeled off the tounge from a waitress who cares about the food being served. Another sign of good things to come.
We started with simple green peppers, fresh appitising and linking to our mains.
For mains, we had four tacos. Beef, chicken, prawn and broccoli from the specials and scallion fries. Each taco dish came with two small tacos. So with two people we ordered four different tacos and had one each.
The beef was tender and well cooked served with crispy onions. On each taco which seemed to be authentic and pressed was a bed of salad and guacamole.
We had buffalo chicken taco which was served with blue cheese. For my own taste, this may have been a step too far into the wild side as I've only ever had blue cheese with crackers and wine, but I appreciate the flavour.
The prawns were huge. In fact I'm going to query whether they were actually lobsters (OK kidding, but they were big, fresh, meaty sweet prawns). I got a South East Asian taste blend which I loved.
Finally we had the broccoli with a curried tempura batter and cauliflower puree....wow I was completely blown away by this. What a combo with cool Mexican salsa, taco and aromatic curry.
The scallion fries made a great accompaniment to link each dish.
By the time we left I felt we had a cullenary journey to Chichen Itza in Mexico City, Empire State building, the Loueve, the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal.
The price was reasonable and it was a superb all-round experience.
Amazing food! I was not expecting that!
The ceviche was delicious and the tacos are excellent, just like the churros!
Definitely worth a stop in there!
My husband and I went here for the first time on Saturday night with two friends. It has a very cool vibe, and their margaritas and tacos are delicious! We ordered literally every taco on the menu to try between us, and I couldn’t pick a favourite. Definitely worth booking to avoid disappointment.
